Over 60 films registered before the deadline

Just as in previous editions, this year there are 3 sections –Local Television, Production Companies and Young Authors– in the main Golden Beggar prize competitions.

We expect entries that reflect the lives and fates of people living where you live. We also welcome works that uncover serious problems of present-day society, such as corruption, blackmail, minority and cross-border problems and the fate of children and women, as well as works that inform about the impact of global warming or the current financial crisis” says Eva Děkanovská, director of the festival.

The International Jury will watch the competition films via special access on and Seven jury members will work under the leadership of Roger Worrod, the Swiss-based actor, writer and producer. “We are pleased that again this year most film entries, including those from Slovakia, come from creative young authors. We are also glad to see successful authors from previous years coming back. Last year’s winner Jerzy Kalina, has sent what is, I’m sure, once again an excellent film” says Eva Děkanovská.
