In Kikinda (Province Vojvodina, northern Serbia) the fires which are set shortly before
Lazar’s Saturday, a week before the Orthodox Easter, from the beginning were called Lazaritzas.
Olgica and Radovan narrate about their motives: they never ceased the tradition, and they wish
to convey it to their children, grand-children and grand-grand-children. In the same time they
would like „Gusle“ to keep on giving that lecture, and to extend the life to the folk custom with all
its elements, one of which is jumping over the fire.
